Dick Cathcart(1924-1993) was the real cornet player who made the music for the Pete Kelly's Blues radio series in 1951 on NBC. The series starred Jack Webb as cornet man Pete Kelly, and was made into a movie in 1955. Cathcart was a close friend of Webb and appeared in several of his movies.
His radio band included Marty Matlock on clarinet, Elmer Schneider on trombone, Ray Schneider at the piano, Bill Newman on guitar, Marty Carb playing bass, and Nick Fatool on the drums.
