The Inner Sanctum
The Inner Sanctum mystery series ran on NBC from January 1941 to October of 1952. It featured scary and spooky stories, often with such stars as Boris Karloff, Peter Lorre, and Orson Welles. It was created by producer Himan Brown. The famous 'Creaking Door' opening ( It was really a chair scooting across a linoleum floor) was later borrowed for the CBS Radio Mystery Theater in the 1970's.
