Inspector Dover
Inspector Dover of Scotland Yard is fat, lazy, gluttonous, greedy, foul tempered and ill-mannered. Everything you wouldn't want in a detective. He bullies his subordinates and his witnesses, and somehow manages to solve crimes in spite of himself. The stories are told by his long-suffering Sgt. McGregor and are a delightful antidote to the competence of the normal fictional sleuth. The series stars Kenneth Cranham as Dover and Stuart McQuarrie as Sgt. McGregor.
